Summer is almost here and warmer weather brings on more cravings for tasty treats like ice cream sundaes and calorie packed tasty desserts. If done correctly, dessert doesn’t have to be loaded with calories and it can actually taste amazing too! This smoothie recipe ends up tasting like a creamy sweet treat even though you are using only healthy ingredients, crazy huh?? This green smoothie is great to curb post-dinner sugar cravings, but can also be used as a meal replacement anytime of day because it has a great balance of whole grains, produce, and healthy fats. All you would need to do is add some protein powder and the meal is complete!
Here is how you make Michelle’s Go Green Smoothie:
¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
2 cups fresh spinach
1 frozen banana
¼ cup rolled oats
2 Tbsp almonds (or can also use 1 Tbsp of unsalted almond butter)
2 Tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut
1 Tbsp cocoa powder
½ Tbsp chia seeds
½ tsp vanilla
6 drops of liquid stevia (optional: I prefer using honey)
6 ice cubes
Combine all of these ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy 🙂
Feel free to play around with some of the ingredients to get it tasting just how you like it and let me know if you come up with any great alternatives!
